PRICE GUARDRAILS

Automate your pricing without letting go of the wheel

You draw the field: floor and ceiling by season and category. Sentinel AI optimizes every rate inside those limits and no recommendation ever jumps them. Automation works for you, not the other way around.

What price guardrails are

Price limits, or guardrails, are the floor and ceiling you define for every rate: the price your hotel never sells below and the maximum it never exceeds, even at peak demand compression. In Sentinel AI they are a hard boundary: no recommendation, rule or automation can jump them.

Trust is the prerequisite for automation. Nobody lets a system move their rates if there is any chance it publishes an absurd price. With a floor and ceiling per season and per room category, the intelligence in Sentinel AI works for you inside the field you marked, and you keep the final word.

How they protect every rate you publish

The boundary first, the optimization after, inside R2 OS.

FLOOR AND CEILING

Boundaries no recommendation crosses

Set the minimum and maximum price for every rate and turn them into a hard boundary. The worst week of the year does not define what your hotel is worth, and the highest demand peak never publishes a rate your guest reads as abuse.

  • The floor protects your margin and brand positioning
  • The ceiling protects your reputation on peak dates
BY SEASON

Limits by season and category

The high-season floor is useless in low season, and a suite does not protect the same margin as a standard room. Define floor and ceiling by season and room category, well in advance, and optimization operates inside each frame.

  • A floor and ceiling of their own per season and room type
  • Define them once and they govern the whole calendar
YOUR RULES

Rules play inside the limits

The if-then rules engine executes the strategy you wrote, and guardrails are the line no rule can step over. If a rule asks for a price outside the range, the result is contained at your limit; the range you set is never broken.

  • Rules decide the price; limits mark the boundary
  • Simulate any rule before activating it, without touching published rates
RECOMMENDATIONS

Suggestions born inside the range

Every daily price recommendation arrives with its why and with the guarantee that it respects your limits. It is born pending, you review it and publish with one click; if the calculation pointed outside the range, it is adjusted to your boundary before it reaches you.

  • Every suggested price explains its causes
  • Approve with one click, adjust or reject
AUTOMATION

Turn on autopilot without letting go

Once the frame has earned your trust, you turn on auto-apply: recommendations publish on their own, always inside your limits. Automation saves you the daily rate loading without opening the door to a price you would never authorize.

  • Auto-apply is optional, never mandatory
  • It only operates inside the floor and ceiling you defined
TRACEABILITY

Every limit leaves an audit trail

Like everything in Sentinel AI, limits are auditable: you see which recommendations were contained by your floor or ceiling and which data produced them. That repeated friction is information: it tells you where your strategy and the market are colliding.

  • See when a limit contained a recommendation
  • Defend every price to ownership with evidence
THE SENTINEL DIFFERENCE

Other systems treat your limits as a concession to the nervous user. In Sentinel AI they are the core of the design: automation proposes and executes only inside the floor and ceiling you defined.

Guardrails vs. the alternatives

Why a range with hard limits beats a frozen price and a black box.

Frequently asked questions

What is a minimum price for, if what I want is occupancy?
The floor keeps a soft date from turning into a fire sale: selling below a certain point destroys margin and positioning without generating proportional demand. Occupancy is won with smart pricing inside the range, not by drilling through the value of your hotel.
Does the ceiling make me lose money on peak dates?
A well-placed ceiling captures most of the peak without crossing the point where the guest feels cheated and says so in a review. For an exceptional event you can raise it consciously; the difference is that the decision is yours, not an accident of the algorithm.
Can I set different limits by season or room type?
Yes. Every season and every room category can have its own floor and ceiling: a suite in high season protects a different margin than a standard room midweek. You define them in advance and they govern the whole calendar.
What happens if a recommendation points outside my limits?
The limit always wins: the suggestion is adjusted to your floor or ceiling before it reaches you. And since everything in Sentinel AI is auditable, you can see when a limit contained the engine, a useful signal that your strategy and the market are colliding.
Are guardrails the same as pricing rules?
No. The rules you write decide the price based on demand, events or competitors; guardrails are the boundary no decision can cross, whether it comes from a rule, a recommendation or auto-apply. Rules play the game; limits mark the field.
Can I turn on auto-apply without risk?
That is precisely the point of guardrails. Auto-apply publishes recommendations on its own, but only inside the floor and ceiling you defined; a price outside your range simply cannot happen. You start by approving manually and turn on the autopilot once the frame has earned your trust.
